Fore over a decade, we've been captivated by the rich colors and intricate patterns woven into every thread - from ancient Ikat techniques of Uzbekistan to the striking Batik artistry of Indonesia.
Frankitas is the story of two lifelong friends who turned their shared passion into a creative reality.
Francisca Turner Shaik (Franki) and Gayathri Subramaniam (Gaya) have been best friends for over 30 years and business partners for 15 years. Their friendship began long before Frankitas, built on a mutual love for traditional crafts, beautiful textiles, and the stories they tell.
Franki's love affair with textiles began in childhood, running through the village markets of West Java where her grandmother would teach her to feel the difference between hand-woven and machine-made fabrics. Those early memories of watching artisans work their magic with nothing but thread and time shaped everything she believes about beauty and authenticity.
Gaya, Malaysian-born and raised, has always been drawn to the creative and feminine side of design. Her vision centers on creating accessories for women who want to be elegant but aren't afraid to express their boldness and personality - understanding that true style comes from the confidence to be authentically yourself.
Together, they've built Frankitas from a shared dream into a brand that celebrates the artistry of traditional textiles while empowering the women who carry them.
